Furthermore, I bring to you a vastly
diverse level of expertise that can only be achieved through
field level experience and training. . I have attended a
multitude of advanced Law Enforcement schools and hold an
instructor certificates in many areas of training.
Every community that I have visited
in Hendry County, without exception, has stressed the fact
that we need more deputies patrolling our streets. Well, we
all know that we will never have the kind of resources that
our neighboring counties have and that we will never have
their enormous budgets but the key issue in protecting our
families is in proper asset allocation. It is therefore my
plan to properly allocate the resources that we do have in
order to maximize their effectiveness.
I will increase the amount of
deputies actually working on patrol, by reallocating our
existing resources. I will begin by taking away the desks that
some of the current employees possess in exchange for patrol
cars.
It’s easy for a Sheriff to put the
blame on our County Commissioners or the past administration
for their lack of funding, training and equipment but that
won’t reduce crime in our county. I will begin immediately by
optimizing our current budget, staffing and equipment
allocations and focusing on allocating the resources that we
currently have before dealing with what our needs might be in
the future.
It is imperative that we implement
the role of Community Policing in Hendry County. By
implementing Community Policing immediately, we will provide
our current Deputies with specific areas of responsibilities
making them accountable for the areas they protect, and
properly supervising them to assure better productivity. By
doing this, each community, Felda, Ladeka, Pioneer, Montura,
Harlem and others will have their own deputies permanently
assigned to their own respective communities. This will
significantly increase law enforcement presence in our
communities, a proven technique for reducing crime.
We will train our deputies to be
proactive rather than reactive, stressing the importance of
crime prevention rather than crime documentation. I will focus
heavily on our schools in order to implement new programs
which will assist in keeping our schools drug free and crime
free. Ladies and gentlemen, our schools are the training
grounds for our most precious assets, our children and our
future. We must devote more attention to these very valuable
assets in order to protect our future and the future of
generations to come.
As your Sheriff I will build an
un-severable bond with our elected county and city officials
with the understanding that we must all work together in order
to achieve a common goal. An intricate part of that equation
is working hand in hand with the fine officers of the
Clewiston Police Department; so that we can collectively
better serve the citizens of Clewiston and Hendry County.
I understand the importance of
training and educating our Law Enforcement Officers. Make no
mistake about it, the fine men and women of the Hendry County
Sheriff’s Office deserve to be given the same quality of
training that is offered to other Law Enforcement
Professionals throughout the State of Florida, and they will
when you elect me Sheriff. I will have certified training
professionals within the Sheriff’s Office that will train our
own and continue the reoccurring training as mandated by the
State of Florida.
